On 5 August, the Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi presented operational reports to President Zelenskyy.

The first report concerned military assistance to Ukraine, the second - the situation at the front.

The President of Ukraine spoke about this in an evening address to citizens. The corresponding video was published on Monday by the OP’s YouTube channel .

“There were several important reports. In the morning, Defence Minister Umerov spoke on support packages for Ukraine. The absolute priority is providing weapons to our soldiers, and I am grateful to all partners who are actually implementing their promises on time,” said the leader of the state.

It is very important that as little time as possible elapses between the announcement of the packages and the use of these weapons at the front. New packages are being prepared that could strengthen Ukraine’s position this fall.

“Also today, there is a report from Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi, he is now directly on the front line, in combat brigades and in the field, clarifying the specific needs of our brigades, the specific situation in each direction. It is very important that commanders of all levels - from the highest - have direct contact with the front line , we were directly there - with soldiers who perform the most difficult tasks, a lot has already been done for this, and I am grateful to every commander who is truly with his soldiers,” Zelenskyy said.

They also worked out in detail the work procedure for this month with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

“Now we have new receipts from the United States - $3.9 billion has arrived in the treasury account. We thank our partners for their support. We are also working with the European Union to receive about 4 billion euros of aid needed by Ukraine in August.

And also today we discussed several important practical nuances regarding the use of Russian assets blocked by partners. There is a G7 decision on 50 billion dollars for Ukraine from the use of Russian assets, and now we are working on a specific implementation with partners in Europe and America. Today we agreed on our position on how to bring the actual flow of funds closer. This is something that can strengthen us critically for Ukraine in this autumn-winter season,” the president said.

Work continues to implement our Peace Formula. On August 5, another new signature appeared under the Summit communiqué - Botswana joined.

This is a signal that we are increasing, no matter how difficult it is, the circle of our partners who respect international law.

“And also recently, negotiations are continuing with members of our working groups on the points of the Peace Formula - negotiations on how and when we will fill the implementation of the points of the Peace Formula with the necessary content. We have an unchanged goal - already this year to prepare a real basis for a just end to this war. And this is possible,” Zelenskyy is sure.
