Ukrzaliznytsia wants to raise prices for luxury and Intercity trains

UZ proposes to link ticket prices to the popularity of flights and time of day.

Ukrzaliznytsia is developing a model for changing tariffs for passenger transportation, we are talking about sleeping cars and Intercity+. The head of the passenger direction of UZ, Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, said this in an interview with Ukrainian Forbes.

One of the proposals under discussion is to link ticket prices to the popularity of flights and time of day.

"To release prices for SV class tickets so that prices are regulated by the market depending on demand. Despite the high cost, these tickets are sold out the fastest," he said.

Also, Pertsovskyi added, flexible pricing is proposed for all Intercity+ classes. At the same time, certain price limits may be set.

In addition, it is proposed to provide for moderate indexation of basic tariffs in the future, taking into account inflation.

At the same time, the most affordable tariffs will remain for those for whom cost is critical, assured the top manager of UZ.

"Until the end of the war, Ukrainians will definitely be able to buy affordable tickets - this is our commitment as a social company. But this does not mean that we agree to the absence of any changes," explained the head of the passenger direction of Ukrzaliznytsia.
