SSU detains three men for arson attacks on military vehicles

The Security Service and the National Police detained three more young people who, on orders from the Russian Federation, burned military SUVs of the Defence Forces in the Kharkiv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

This is stated on the SSU website.

According to the investigation, the subversive activities of the defendants were coordinated by Russian special services, who promised money for the destroyed cars of Ukrainian defenders.

The perpetrators used flammable mixtures and then reported to the occupiers and sent photos of burnt cars.

“In Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, a 15-year-old local resident and his 18-year-old relative were detained for setting fire to three Ukrainian Armed Forces SUVs undergoing maintenance after completing combat missions on the front lines,” the report says.

According to the police, the young men rode bicycles around the area, where they tracked Ukrainian military vehicles. After finding potential targets, the criminals photographed them and sent them to the customer for approval. Then, following the instructions of the "curator", the defendants prepared a flammable mixture, doused the military vehicles and set them on fire.

Another arsonist from Kharkiv. The SSU detained a 22-year-old contract soldier-deserter who left his military unit without permission and was hiding in the regional center.

"The suspect was actively looking for "easy money" on Telegram channels. On one of these Internet resources, a representative of Russian intelligence "contacted" the young man and offered him money in exchange for cooperation. On the instructions of the enemy, the young man set fire to six SUVs of the Ukrainian troops in one night," the police noted.

Both perpetrators are in custody and face 8 to 10 years in prison.
