Non-stop fighting continues in the Pokrovsk direction, says press officer of the Chervona Kalyna brigade
In the Pokrovsk direction, battles with the enemy continue day and night. The Defence Forces are holding back the enemy’s advance, but this is not easy.
This was stated by the press officer of the Chervona Kalyna brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Mykola Koval, on air during the telethon.
He emphasized that the Pokrovsk direction remains the hottest on the front. "Non-stop, 24-hour battles continue. They are almost always conducted in direct confrontation. Shooting battles take place in wooded areas and between houses in villages. The enemy has suffered heavy losses, but has accumulated a very significant number of personnel. Ukrainian fighters are holding back the enemy’s advance, although this is very difficult," Koval said.
He notes that the enemy’s approach to Pokrovsk does not mean that the city will be occupied tomorrow.
"The fact that they say that the enemy is 10 kilometers away does not mean that he will be in Pokrovsk tomorrow. We are doing everything to contain him as he approaches our positions," Koval said.
According to him, the enemy constantly sends infantry into attack - these can be purely "meaty" assaults, and sometimes the enemy’s first line of attack, in which the occupiers are less prepared, goes into a "meaty" assault, but immediately behind it comes another - more prepared group, which rarely goes into a frontal attack, but uses different tactics.
"Such assaults are ongoing, without interruption. In order to contain the enemy, we conduct aerial reconnaissance day and night, and as soon as we detect the enemy, we transmit the coordinates to the artillery. Mortars are used, tanks are trained so that our infantry can be sure that it is covered," the brigade’s press officer notes.
Koval reported that if the assaults are very intense, the Defence Forces repel them with FPV drones as much as possible in order to preserve Ukrainian fighters. "The enemy forces, gathered in the Pokrovsk direction with one fist, exceed the number of Defence Forces, so this affects the course of the battle. There are not just mobilized fighters fighting there, but well-trained fighters using different combat tactics," he emphasized. According to him, the enemy uses artillery more often. At the same time, he added that the ratio of drone use has now leveled out, and the previous experience during the drone deficit in the Defence Forces, when the fighters learned to shoot accurately at the enemy, now favors the enemy.
