On August 24, the Ukrainian military launched its first attack on Russian troops using a Palyanytsya drone missile.

Zelensky announced this during celebrations on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day.

"This is our new method of retaliation against the aggressor. The enemy was defeated. I thank everyone who made this possible. All the developers, manufacturers and our soldiers. I am proud of you. It will be very difficult for Russia, it is difficult even to say what exactly flew in. It is difficult to counteract, but it is very easy to understand why."

According to the president, this is a weapon of "an entirely new class."
