Stefanchuk reported under what circumstances MP Dmytruk may be stripped of his mandate

The Verkhovna Rada will make a decision on depriving the mandate of People’s Deputy Artem Dmytruk, relying solely on the points provided for in the Constitution of Ukraine.

This was announced by the head of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, during a panel discussion at the forum “Ukraine 2024. Independence”.

“People’s Deputy Dmytruk has never been sent on any business trips from the Verkhovna Rada ,” he emphasized.

According to Stefanchuk, information about Dmytruk’s illegal border crossing has already been entered into the Unified State Register related to criminal proceedings, and the investigation is ongoing.

The speaker of the Ukrainian parliament stressed that after the investigation is completed, appropriate decisions will be made, including in the Verkhovna Rada.

At the same time, Stefanchuk emphasized that during this time, issues of early deprivation of people’s deputies of their mandates in the Rada were considered on the basis of seven points provided for in Article 81 of the Constitution of Ukraine.

"We will continue to act in this way if grounds arise. The Ukrainian parliament has never had delays on such issues," the head of the Verkhovna Rada emphasized.

He noted that it is very important that this procedure takes place in the legislative plane. The politician recalled that all previous cases of depriving people’s deputies of their mandates occurred in full compliance with the Constitution of Ukraine.

"We are calm, even after MP Medvedchuk, a traitor to Ukraine, filed a lawsuit against the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for allegedly illegally depriving him of his mandate. We are calm because we did this on the basis and in the manner provided for in Article 81 of the Constitution. We will continue to act in this way. If there are grounds (to deprive MP Dmytruk of his mandate - ed.), we will certainly consider this issue," Stefanchuk concluded.
