The head of the NBU commented on the introduction of limits on card transfers

This is how the head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Andriy Pyshnyi, commented on the decision to introduce limits on card transfers on Facebook.

“Establishing limits is an anti-crisis and temporary solution,” Pyshnyi emphasized.

He also added that the final decision differs from the one previously announced in May.

"We have significantly increased the maximum amount of transfers and abandoned the limit on the number of transactions," the head of the NBU explained.

Pyshnyi noted that most citizens will not feel any changes, since, according to the NBU, 98% of clients make monthly transfers that do not exceed the established amount.

According to him, the ability to make transfers using IBAN details remains available without limits.

"Even if the limit of UAH 150,000 is exhausted, you can always take advantage of this opportunity," Pyshnyi explained.

The head of the National Bank noted that the problem of using the “drop” scheme is large-scale and requires a comprehensive solution.

"We have a vision of how to act. But this work takes time. Therefore, before all the necessary decisions and changes are completed, we need to minimize the activities of the "drops" as much as possible," he emphasized.

"The established limit of UAH 150,000 for repayments between individuals will be absolutely comfortable for 98% of Ukrainians," said NBU head Andriy Pyshnyi.

"We want to reduce the possibility of using the Ukrainian payment system for the shadow sector and illegal transactions," the head of the National Bank said.
