The training of Ukrainian military personnel will take place as close to Ukraine as possible, but outside of it.

The European Union does not plan to send its military instructors to Ukraine. This was agreed upon by EU foreign ministers at a meeting in Brussels, said the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell.

According to him, the training of Ukrainian military personnel will take place as close to Ukraine as possible, but outside of its borders.

Borrell noted that the EU is seeking to provide training for more Ukrainian troops. The initial goal of the EU training mission was to train 60,000 troops, but this figure will be increased.

"At the end of the day I will say by how much. But this is the most successful training mission the European Union has ever carried out. To train 60,000 soldiers, and perhaps more, is a significant success," Borrell said, according to Voice of America.

He added that the ministers would also discuss the possibility of opening a representative office in Kyiv to enhance European coordination with the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

As for training on Ukrainian territory with the participation of European instructors, at the moment such a possibility is “not being discussed,” Borrell clarified.
