Telegram is a threat to national security, - Budanov

Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, considers the Telegram messenger a threat to Ukrainian national security.

Budanov reported this during an interview on Radio Charter.

"Telegram is dangerous. I have never been afraid to talk about it. It is a threat to our national security.

I am speaking quite frankly, and we even documented this.

Telegram is the main source of information in society, according to our research. It is significantly ahead of all other resources.

I’m not advocating for it to be simply banned. It’s very difficult to do, but it’s possible.

I am in favor of "physicalizing" all Telegram channels.

If you want to spread any news, please register so that everyone knows that this is a channel of a citizen of the Russian Federation or a citizen of Ukraine. And then he will be held responsible."

Budanov also noted that blocking Telegram, as was the case with Odnoklassniki and VKontakte, is technically more difficult, but possible.

As for Twitter, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate called it harmless.
