"Diya" launches online marriage, - Fedorov

In Ukraine, a full cycle of online marriage has been introduced using the Diya application, including filing an application, holding a ceremony and receiving an electronic certificate. The entire process will take about 30 minutes.

In Ukraine, a full cycle of online marriage is starting with the help of the Diya application; as planned, the entire process will last about 30 minutes, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced on Monday.

"Be the first in the world to get married online with Diya. We are launching online marriage in Diya. Only in Ukraine can you go through the full cycle of marriage - from filing an application, online marriage to receiving a certificate in the app. You no longer need to go to institutions, collect documents, put them in a folder to become husband and wife."

He noted that thanks to the possibility of online marriage, military personnel and couples who are far from each other will be able to get married, despite any circumstances, the distance between cities or even countries.

"Join the digital ceremony with a registrar at any location that suits you. Decide whether you want to change your last name, keep yours or take a double one, right in the app. The certificate will immediately appear in "Diya", the paper version will be sent by mail," said Fedorov.

"An interesting solution to surprise your other half is to propose via Diya. Check with your loved ones how it works today)", he added.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that 5 years ago, "we could not even imagine a world without queues, coupons and appointments with a registrar at 7 am, but today Ukraine is setting the trend for digitalization for the entire world."

"Marriage is just the beginning, the basis for the digitalization of other services that will soon appear in "Diya", so stay tuned. Spend time on romance, not bureaucracy," Fedorov wrote, sharing a video about the innovation.
