An accomplice of the MP Hunko, who was caught in bribery, will be tried, - NABU

NABU and SAPO have sent to trial an accomplice of a current member of the Ukrainian parliament, who was caught receiving an improper benefit amounting to 85,000 USD.

According to the investigation, the member of parliament (head of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada, which investigates facts of corruption in state enterprises, as well as institutions and organizations of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine) offered a businessman to obtain land for cultivation, which was in the permanent use of a state enterprise of the academy, instigating him to bribe officials of the NAASU and a local top official.

For each hectare of land and non-obstruction of his activities, the farmer had to provide a wrongful benefit of 130 USD.

As a result of the agreements reached, for the provision of 1,700 hectares of land from one of the state enterprises, the amount of the wrongful benefit reached 221,000 USD. Of this sum, the entrepreneur had to provide 85,000 USD as an advance before the start of cultivation.

During the receipt of these funds, the member of parliament and his two accomplices were caught "red-handed". On the same day, he was notified of the suspicion.

The indictment against the member of parliament and one of the accomplices was sent to court in February of this year. The materials for another accomplice were allocated into a separate proceeding.

The surname of the member of parliament is not mentioned, but from the case materials, it can be understood that it concerns Anatoliy Hunko.
