In Zakarpattia, concrete blocks are being installed near checkpoints to prevent illegal border crossing by vehicles, - SBGS

Recently, there have been increasingly frequent cases of citizens attempting to illegally cross the border, damaging fences and barriers. To prevent vehicles from breaking through the Ukrainian border, concrete barrier blocks are being installed near checkpoints in the Zakarpattia region.

This was announced by the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, during a telethon broadcast. He emphasized that cases of illegal border crossing are recorded both at checkpoints and in their vicinity.

"Attempts to break through the border are not isolated; quite often, certain individuals, already at checkpoints or on their way to them, try to force their way through, including by damaging barriers," the spokesperson noted.

According to Andriy Demchenko, border guards, together with the Infrastructure Development and Restoration Service of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration, are working on enhancing security measures on roads leading to checkpoints.

"The State Border Guard Service, in cooperation with the authorities responsible for equipping checkpoints, is constantly working to prevent such actions," Demchenko stressed.

Near border checkpoints, concrete blocks and other structures are being installed to stop vehicles in case of a breakthrough. Additionally, measures are being implemented to force vehicles to reduce speed when approaching the border.
