A meeting in the format of «Group of Seven plus Ukraine» took place in New York, where more than 30 countries and the European Union adopted a Joint Declaration to support the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine, reported the official website of the President of Ukraine on the night of September 26.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that this joint commitment will promote Ukraine’s recovery, and it provides for the coordination of relevant efforts through the Ukrainian Donor Platform.

«This testifies to our common view on life – we protect people and ensure they have the opportunity to live. And it is absolutely fair that those who help us endure now will be the first – together with Ukraine – to benefit from large-scale recovery», the website of the President of Ukraine quotes Zelenskyy.

U.S. President Joseph Biden emphasized that this declaration is being published to confirm support for Ukraine now and in the future.

«I am determined to ensure that Ukraine has everything it needs for victory and to fight for its survival. Tomorrow I will announce a number of measures to accelerate support for the Ukrainian military,» the head of the USA stated.

The main points of the declaration are comprehensive assistance for the recovery of Ukraine on its path to EU membership, coordination of support through the Ukrainian Donor Platform, and providing additional financial support of about 50 billion U.S. dollars by the end of the year from revenues of frozen Russian assets, part of which is planned to be directed to defense needs.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Head of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni, and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau also spoke at the signing ceremony.
