The head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, may soon leave his post, and his successor has probably already been selected.

This is reported by the media, citing an informed source in the security structures.

Commenting on the possibility of Kyrylo Budanov’s dismissal, the interlocutor noted: "This option does indeed exist."

At the same time, he refuted information from some Telegram channels about the possible appointment of the current head of the DIU as an ambassador to a foreign state.

According to the source, the new head of the DIU may be 55-year-old Oleh Ivashchenko, who currently holds the position of the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

An official comment from the DIU has not yet been obtained.
