Former MP Dmytro Kryuchkov has been arrested in absentia in a case involving billion-dollar damages to Cherkasyoblenergo
The High Anti-Corruption Court has in absentia chosen detention as a preventive measure for former People’s Deputy Dmytro Kryuchkov and will consider his case in absentia in connection with organizing the embezzlement of over 1.5 billion UAH from the companies PJSC «Cherkasyoblenergo» and PJSC «Zaporizhzhyaoblenergo».
Kryuchkov is accused under Part 3 Article 27, Part 2 Article 364, Part 5 Article 191, and Part 3 Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He fled Ukraine.
The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office accuses him of abuse. In 2015-2016, officials of PJSC «HCC «Energomerezha», PJSC «Cherkasyoblenergo», and PJSC «Zaporizhzhyaoblenergo», acting in the interests of a private company – PJSC «HCC «Energomerezha», violated the requirements of the "Law on Electric Power Industry," by signing debt transfer agreements and debtor substitution, abusing their official position, and seized funds that were supposed to go to PJSC «Cherkasyoblenergo» and PJSC «Zaporizhzhyaoblenergo», as well as conducted financial operations to legalize these funds.
The total damages to the power supply companies in the case amount to over 1.5 billion UAH, of which more than 315 million UAH was recovered during the pre-trial investigation.
