Russians are attacking Kamyanske in the Zaporizhzhya region from the direction of the occupied Vasylivka

Ukrainian military publics reported on Monday about an attack by Russian forces on Kamyanske in the Zaporizhzhya region - from the direction of the captured Vasylivka.

Kamyanske is located almost on the front line in the western part of the Zaporizhzhya region. The shortest route to Zaporizhzhya (30 kilometers) passes through this settlement.

Ukrainian Telegram channels reported that Russian forces penetrated Kamyanske but were repelled. The Deep State map does not show changes in the front line in this area (map 1).

However, according to the same map, part of the city south of the Yanchekrak River is under Russian control.

Publics are publishing a statement from one of the fighters of the third regiment of SOF, who participated in repelling the attack. He noted that the Russian forces had a "serious setback" in Kamyanske.

At the same time, Russian publics claim that there was an advance by the Russian army in Kamianske and also in the neighboring village of Plavni.

They also claim that Russian assault groups managed to gain a foothold in Kamyanske on the northern bank of the Yanchekrak River and expanded the control zone near the dam (maps 2 and 3). Ukraine has not confirmed this.

However, there is clearly increased activity in the strategically important front line area.

The question remains whether this is preparation for a large-scale offensive or merely reconnaissance in force and an attempt to improve positions on the front line.
