The occupiers shot a prisoner in the Bakhmut direction
In the Bakhmut direction, Russian occupiers likely killed a wounded serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who was captured by them. Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General on Facebook.
According to operational data, while performing a combat mission in the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region, a Ukrainian soldier was likely wounded. After some time, Russian occupiers captured the building where he was located and took the soldier prisoner.
Unarmed, the defender lying on the ground was shot by Russian military personnel.
It was preliminarily established that this happened around 10:00 AM on Friday, September 6, near the “Phenol Plant” in the village of New York.
Investigators have opened a criminal case for violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder, under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The Office of the Prosecutor General emphasizes that the murder of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime.
