Yermak: The DPRK has de facto entered the war against Ukraine
De jure, Pyongyang has not declared war, but has secretly joined the aggression against Ukraine. The involvement of the DPRK’s army in the hostilities changes the scenario and the meaning of the entire confrontation, emphasizes the head of the OP.
Regular troops of North Korea are moving to Russia’s Kursk region and are preparing to fight against the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This move indicates that North Korea is de facto involved in a full-scale war with Ukraine, says the head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera.
"De facto, it can be said that North Korea is participating in the war. De jure, there was no official declaration of war from Pyongyang, but they have joined the military aggression against our country," he noted.
Ukraine is now fighting not only the Russian aggressor but also its North Korean and Iranian allies. Iran regularly supplies "Shahed" drones, so Kyiv’s Western allies need to live in this new reality and make concrete decisions, believes the head of the OP.
"We have long been saying — more weapons are needed, and restrictions on strikes on Russian territory should be lifted. This is reflected in President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s victory plan," he noted.
The participation of the DPRK in hostilities will undoubtedly change the political scenario and the meaning of the war. The West should not fear escalation; it needs to respond collectively. It is not enough just to stop the fighting; it is necessary to strive to prevent the next aggression, Yermak is convinced.
"Otherwise, danger will reach the Baltic countries, and then the Balkans. All of them claim to be ’very concerned,’ but if Ukraine does not stop the invasion, they will be next. Thanks to the self-sacrifice of heroic Ukrainian soldiers, it has been possible to protect Europe and the international order. The time has come for you not to delay but to quickly provide us with weapons and ammunition in sufficient quantities," the official stated.
