Norway will provide Ukraine with almost 120 million euros for a new Patriot
Norway, together with other allies, will allocate around 120 million euros for Ukraine. These funds are necessary for Ukraine to receive another Patriot system from Romania.
This decision was announced by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
According to him, Norway is providing 1.4 billion Norwegian kroner, which amounts to approximately 120 million euros, for the project in which allies will fund the provision of another Patriot system from Romania to Ukraine. Germany and the USA are also participating in this project.
"Russian attacks continue relentlessly, and Ukraine needs more air defense capabilities to protect the civilian population. Air defense for Ukraine is a priority area for Norway, and I am very pleased that we can help Ukraine obtain a new Patriot system," Støre stated.
The Norwegian government also emphasized that 4 billion kroner had previously been allocated to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense. These funds were directed towards the purchase of interceptor missiles for Patriot, acquisition of the IRIS-T battery, and repair of existing air defence systems.
