From November 1, the training of mobilized personnel will take place in a new way, — the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Starting from November 1, the process of training mobilized personnel in training centers will be changed.

Now, as explained by the General Staff:

  • training will last one and a half months instead of one month as it did before;
  • the time allocated for firearms training will almost double;
  • new training directions that were not previously included in the program will be updated, including combat operations in conditions of enemy UAV presence, etc.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of Doctrine and Training of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is noted that special attention is given to preparing newcomers for real combat. In particular, the number of hours for fire training has significantly increased—from the current 68 hours to 101 hours. Whereas previously, 300 cartridges were allocated for training one fighter, now almost three times more, 850 cartridges, are planned. Moreover, the mobilized will perform 45 various shooting exercises from different positions (the previous standards provided for 23 exercises).

The General Staff also decided to increase the exposure of future soldiers to so-called collective weapons (machine guns, handheld anti-tank grenade launchers, automatic grenade launchers).

The number of comprehensive tactical exercises will increase by more than half—from 30 to 48. In the new training programs, engineering training (actions in trenches, learning about mine hazards, camouflage) has been increased by a quarter—to 13 hours, as well as learning the basics of pre-medical assistance—to 16 hours.

An entirely new direction, namely combat in conditions of enemy UAV presence and familiarization with trench electronic warfare (EW) means, has now been included as a mandatory part of the program for all 27 training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A total of 10 hours has been allocated for this. Newcomers must be able to identify different types of drones, know how to respond to them, what means to use to combat enemy drones, and how to interact with their own drone operators.

Overall, the duration of training will increase by 78 hours.

Moreover, the media reports that the installation of video cameras is planned to monitor the training process and life in the training centers.

In the future, the General Staff plans not only to grade the servicemen who have completed the basic general military training course but also to issue a relevant certificate indicating the proficiency of each in mastering the core disciplines necessary on the battlefield.
