A new honorary consulate of Ukraine has opened in the city of Adana, Turkey. It is headed by a businessman and activist who actively supports Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression.

This fact was highlighted with reference to the Ukrainian ambassador to the Republic of Turkey Vasyl Bodnar.

The head of the new diplomatic mission is a well-known businessman and public figure in the region, Omer Sakarya. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he has supported Ukraine, worked on the country’s representation in the region, and promoted the development of interregional cooperation.

Adana is a major industrial and industrial center in Turkey with a population of over 2.5 million people. The city has a significant Ukrainian community.

"Representing Ukraine’s interests, protecting the rights of our citizens, developing interregional cooperation, expanding business ties are just the initial list of tasks for the honorary consul," Bodnar noted.
