In Thailand, a Ukrainian was robbed of $250,000 in cryptocurrency
A 23-year-old Ukrainian was robbed of 250,000 USDT in Thailand.
This was reported by the media.
Details about the 23-year-old Ukrainian were conveyed by the Khao Sod newspaper in an article on November 10. The text mentions three names, although it actually refers to five individuals. On the evening of November 8, the Ukrainian arrived at a hotel in Rawai at the invitation of his 18-year-old friend and fellow countryman.
They were already awaited by a third acquaintance—a 21-year-old citizen of Armenia. The men went out to the balcony, then the victim went to the bathroom where he encountered two masked men. The victim was tied up, and under the threat of physical violence (the Armenian citizen held a hammer), they demanded $500,000 in USDT cryptocurrency. The Ukrainian negotiated with the kidnappers for half the amount.
After receiving $250,000 in USDT (which police registered as 8,560,796 baht and 48 satang), the kidnappers left the premises, leaving the victim tied up. The Ukrainian freed himself, exited the room, and at the reception desk, asked the hotel staff to allow him to photograph the passports of the 18-year-old Ukrainian and the 21-year-old Armenian renting the room.
After this, the victim asked the staff not to go up to the room and went to the airport to follow the kidnappers.
Unable to find them, the Ukrainian returned “to his home in Rawai” and filed a report with the Kamala police two days later.
“He took some time to think about what happened because he was afraid something even worse might happen. Eventually, he decided to contact the Kamala police to bring the criminals to justice,” the media reported.
