In Zakarpattia, an employee of the BES caused a traffic accident

On Saturday, November 15, a fatal road traffic accident occurred in the Zakarpattia region. As a result of the accident, a woman died. Four more people, including a small child, were injured.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service (SES). According to data from local journalist Vitaliy Hlahola, the tragedy on the road was caused by an employee of the Bureau of Economic Security.

Yesterday, around 16:15, a serious traffic accident occurred on the "Mukachevo–Rohatyn" highway near the village of Hreblya in the Khust district involving two cars – an Audi with the number (AO 5500 TT) and an Opel Insignia (AO 5367 SV)," said the journalist.

He noted that, as it was found out, the Audi car was uncustomed and has Czech registration. Ukrainian numbers were illegally installed on it, and the vehicle has no legal documents for staying in Ukraine.

"As I was able to verify through my sources, according to the customs base - this car left the territory of Ukraine a long time ago. That means someone illegally entered data about its exit into the base. According to the police database - the numbers AO5500TT are not registered to any vehicle," the report by Hlahola states.

According to preliminary information, the driver of the Audi, an employee of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine, Lieutenant Kostyantyn Kedyk, crossed the solid line and drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with the Opel Insignia. 

The incident happened near the "Motto" gas station. Police, SES rescuers, and medics worked on the scene.

Hlahola added that the offender of the traffic accident not only violated traffic rules but also possibly laws regarding the import of the vehicle into Ukraine. All necessary investigative actions are currently being conducted to clarify the details.

The SES reported that the call about the road traffic incident was received at 16:25 by the Rescue Service.

"Here, under circumstances that remain unclear, on the national road route N-09 Mukachevo - Rohatyn - Lviv, near the village of Hreblya in the Zarychanska territorial community, Khust district, Audi Q7 and Opel Insignia vehicles collided," the rescuers said.

As a result of the collision, the 31-year-old passenger of the Opel died at the accident scene. Four more people from both vehicles, including a child born in 2023, sustained various injuries.

Three of the injured were transported to medical facilities by emergency medical transport. The Audi passenger refused hospitalization after receiving medical assistance.

It is noted that rescuers extricated the body of the deceased from the wrecked car and cleaned up fuel remnants from the road surface.
