Ukrainian woman "bought" a child to smuggle her husband out of Ukraine
The couple already had two minor children, whose documents were valid; however, this was insufficient for leaving the country on official grounds.
The Ukrainian woman bought a birth certificate for a child in Moldova to take her husband out of Ukraine.
This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The man attempted to cross the border with forged documents.
"The 44-year-old Kharkiv resident was heading to Hungary by bus through the ’Tysa’ checkpoint. At control, along with his passport, he provided two photocopies of birth certificates for the children issued by Ukrainian state authorities and a photocopy of the certificate issued in Moldova," the report states.
During the document check, the border patrol had doubts about the legality of issuing the birth certificate for the third child in Moldova.
"Initially, the man insisted that he was the father of three minor children, the youngest of whom was born in Moldova. However, during questioning, he admitted that he actually has only two children and that his wife bought the certificate abroad," the State Border Guard Service noted.
The man was denied entry across the state border.
Furthermore, the border guards sent a notification to the National Police regarding the detection of signs of a criminal offense under Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ’Forgery of documents, seals, stamps, and forms, their sale, and use of forged documents.’
The further fate of the offender will be decided by the court.
