Zelenskyy held a Staff meeting: discussed urgent issues of energy security and defence of the country

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a regular meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff, where urgent issues of energy security and the state’s defense were discussed. Zelensky also made a number of important personnel decisions regarding the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including appointing a new Commander of the Ground Forces.

This position was received by Mykhailo Drapatyi. The head of state  announced this on his Telegram channel.

The main topic of the meeting was the elimination of the consequences of Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and the protection of critical infrastructure facilities.

"Held a meeting of the Staff. Primarily about energy. Elimination of the consequences of Russian strikes, protection of facilities," the statement said.

The President listened to reports from responsible leaders and commanders regarding the state of recovery efforts in the regions.

To protect critical infrastructure, Zelenskyy tasked with strengthening the air defence system (ADS) and intensifying negotiations with international partners to secure necessary resources.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on the situation at the front, particularly the progress of military operations in the areas of the Kursk operation.

Important personnel decisions were also made to enhance the combat capability of the Ukrainian army.

"Mykhailo Drapatyi has been appointed the new Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleh Apostol has been appointed Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces," the president noted.

Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi is known for successfully organizing the defense in the Kharkiv direction, where he halted the offensive operation of Russian forces. His experience and strategic thinking formed the basis for making this important decision.

Colonel Apostol, the commander of the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade, has significant combat experience, making him one of the key specialists in modern warfare.

"Both have proven their effectiveness in battles. The main task is to significantly enhance the combat capability of our army, ensure high-quality training for military personnel, and implement innovative approaches to command and control in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Ukrainian army needs internal changes to fully achieve the goals of our state," Zelenskyy emphasized.
