Denmark will accelerate the delivery of the Caesar self-propelled howitzers ordered for Ukraine

The Danish government has increased the amount of aid for Ukraine to purchase defence equipment in 2024 and will expedite the delivery of the ordered self-propelled howitzer Caesar.

This was announced by the Danish Ministry of Defence on December 6.

It is noted that the Danish government recommended the Foreign Policy Committee to increase spending on the purchase of military equipment for Ukraine this year. According to the country’s Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, the additional funds are likely to be invested in the purchase of new equipment for Ukraine from Danish and foreign defense companies. Therefore, the Danish government is increasing funding so that contracts can be signed within this year.

The Danish Ministry of Defence noted that the allocated funds will supplement approximately 2.6 billion Danish kroner (about 380 million dollars) that were previously allocated for the purchase of equipment from defense companies.

In addition, Denmark and France will accelerate the delivery of self-propelled howitzers Caesar to Ukraine. Initially, their delivery was planned for 2026, but now Ukraine may receive them as early as 2025.

"Artillery systems are in high demand in Ukraine, so I am pleased that Denmark can now contribute to Ukraine acquiring more howitzers as soon as next year," said Troels Lund Poulsen.
