In the Donetsk region, an employee of a military unit forced subordinates to work for his family

The State Bureau of Investigation uncovered a deputy head of a division of one of the military units in the Donetsk region, who was forcing subordinates to work for his family and surrender part of their unlawfully obtained combat payments. 

This was reported in a press release by the law enforcement agency.

The servicemen were performing construction work and working in a store owned by his wife. If they refused, the official threatened to send them to the front line without proper preparation.

Since January 2023, four servicemen were working for the official’s family. They did not perform their primary duties for almost two years but received full monetary allowance, including payment for combat tasks. They handed over the lion’s share of the payments to the "employer."

The State Bureau of Investigation conducted searches, including at the official’s residence, and seized evidence confirming his illegal activities. The preliminary damage to the state is estimated at over 3 million hryvnias. 

The investigation is ongoing.
