The situation at the front: There were almost 200 attacks on New Year’s Day

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"In total, 191 combat engagements were recorded over the past day," the statement reads.

"The most intensive" direction

In the Pokrovsk direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped 57 assault and offensive actions by the aggressor towards the areas of Zelene Pole, Baranivka, Novotoretske, Promin, Lysivka, Myrnohrad, Kotlyne, Solone, Shevchenko, Novooleksandrivka, Dachenske, Zelene, Novyy Trud, Vovkove, Pishchane, and Novovasylivka.

Situation in other directions

In the Kharkiv direction, one enemy attack occurred in the area of Vovchansk over the past day.

In the Kupyansk direction, there were seven attacks by the occupiers throughout the day. The defense forces repelled enemy assault actions towards Lozova, Nova Kruhlyakivka, and Zahryzove.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 19 times, trying to advance closer to Nadiya, Pershotravneve, Zelenyi Hai, Novoyehorivka, Yampilovka, Terny, Dibrova, as well as towards Druzhkivka, Chorneshchyna, and Novosergiyivka.

On the previous day, the enemy attempted eight times to displace the Ukrainian forces from positions near Bilohorivka and Hryhorivka in the Siversk direction, without success.

32 assault actions occurred in the Kramatorsk direction in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Bila Hora, and Predtechyne. Three of them are still ongoing.

In the Toretsk direction, the enemy conducted 13 attacks near Shcherbynivka, Bila Hora, and Toretsk.

In the Kurakhove direction, defense forces repelled 20 enemy assaults, focused near Petropavlivka, Dachne, Ukrainka, Shevchenko, and Kurakhove.

In the Vremivka direction, the enemy made 11 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Kostyantynivka, Dachne, Rozlyv, Velyka Novosilka, and Neskuchne.

No active actions were reported in the Hulyaipole direction.

In the Orikhiv direction, near Novoandriivka, the invaders made three futile attempts to displace Ukrainian forces from their positions.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian occupiers attacked Ukrainian positions three times, suffering losses and retreating.

In the Kursk direction, the Ukrainian forces repelled 13 enemy attacks over the past day, with the enemy conducting 373 artillery shellings and carrying out three air strikes, dropping three GABs.

No signs of formation of enemy assault groups were recorded in the Volyn and Polissya directions.

On the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy from the territory of the Russian Federation is shelling artillery at areas of Ukrainian settlements.
