Zelenskyy signed a law on the abolition of KRAIL and strengthening control over online casinos

This was reported with reference to the bill’s card No. 9256-d.

According to the document, a new authorized body without collegiate status is to be created in place of KRAIL by April 1, 2025. A ministry that will form the policy in the sphere of gambling and lotteries must also be determined.

In addition, the bill includes restrictions on gambling in Ukraine, in particular:

• the definition of additional tools for restricting visits to gambling establishments and participation in gambling for potentially vulnerable categories of the population during martial law;
• improving control tools for the gambling business (test purchases, internet monitoring);
• establishing additional criteria for license revocation, improving the requirements for the impeccable business reputation of the officials of gambling organizers, and setting requirements for service providers in the gambling sphere.

The document also prohibits advertising of gambling. Exceptions include advertising on television and radio at night, in media for those over 21 years old, on platforms, and in search engines with a target audience aged 21 and older.

It prohibits participation in advertising by military personnel, volunteers, celebrities, and also prohibits using themes related to war.
