Situation at the front: The General Staff reports numerous enemy attacks in various directions

Since the beginning of the day, as of 16:00 on January 4, Ukrainian military forces have recorded 107 combat engagements on the front line. Despite heavy losses, the occupiers continue their attempts to break through our troops’ defences.

According to the information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the situation at the front line remains extremely difficult. Throughout the day, the occupiers are actively shelling Ukrainian positions in various regions, particularly in the Sumy, Kharkiv, and other oblasts.

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy twice attempted to assault the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Starytsia; one of the attacks was repelled, while the other is still ongoing. The enemy also carried out airstrikes on the settlements of Mali Prokhody, Vovchanski Khutory, and Okhrimivka.

In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy actively advanced three times, attacking our units’ positions near Zahryzove. At the same time, in the Lyman direction, Russian forces conducted 11 attacks on different positions of Ukrainian forces.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine also repelled seven enemy attacks in the Kramatorsk direction, while in the Toretsk direction, there were five assaults. In the Pokrovsk direction, where there were 30 attempts to advance throughout the day, our forces managed to repel 22 attacks.

The fiercest battles are ongoing in the Kurakhove direction, where nine enemy attacks have been repelled. In the Vremivka direction, the occupiers made 11 breakthrough attempts.

Meanwhile, in the Orikhiv direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully repelled an attack in the area of Novodanylivka. Overall, despite numerous enemy advances, Ukrainian military forces continue to actively hold positions and prevent the aggressor’s progression.
