During the meeting of the Ramstein Contact Group, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the necessity of deploying foreign contingents in Ukraine before the end of the war. According to him, some countries have already expressed their willingness to support such an initiative.

"Last year, France proposed the idea of deploying a contingent of partners in Ukraine, and this will bring us closer to peace. Our goal — is to find effective tools to force Russia to end the war. The deployment of foreign troops — is one such tool. We have heard support for this idea from some partners, including Great Britain. We need to show courage and implement strong decisions," — emphasized Zelenskyy.

The idea of deploying peacekeeping forces in Ukraine after the end of the war was discussed earlier, but it did not receive much approval in the West. Many countries have stated that they are ready for such a step only with Russia’s consent, which categorically opposes the presence of foreign troops.

Last year, French President Emmanuel Macron also supported the idea of sending Western troops before the conflict ends, but it did not gain widespread support in NATO, including the United States. At the moment, only the possibility of sending military instructors to Ukraine is being discussed, but no specific decisions have been made yet.
