In Sumy, a lecturer will be prosecuted for taking bribes during the admission of conscripts
In the Sumy Center for Vocational and Technical Education of Food Technologies, Trade and Restaurant Service, a teacher is accused of bribery. Specifically, for assisting conscripts with admission to full-time education and passing assessments.
The relevant indictment has been sent to court, reported the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
"The accused not only helped conscripts to enroll in full-time education at the aforementioned educational institution for a monetary reward, but also facilitated their unobstructed passing of assessments and exams. Besides the improper benefit, the ’students’ were also obliged to give their scholarship to the teacher," the statement reads.
Law enforcement officers detained the teacher on October 10, 2024, after receiving money from one of the students. The suspicion was announced the next day.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the student transferred 26.5 thousand hryvnias to the teacher. In October 2024, law enforcement specified the amount as 25 thousand UAH.
The man was suspended from his position. The pre-trial investigation has been completed, noted the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
