In the Chernihiv region, men who were poisoning pensioners for their housing were detained

The police of the Chernihiv region uncovered two men who for years deceived and poisoned elderly people and individuals with disabilities to seize their property.

According to the investigation, the 44-year-old and 34-year-old suspects gained the trust of vulnerable individuals, coaxing them into jointly consuming alcohol, into which they mixed potent drugs and harmful substances, including methanol.

After this, they convinced the victims to sign power of attorney documents for managing their properties. Later, the offenders added a lethal dose of a substance to the alcohol, leading to the death of the individuals.

The exact number of victims is not disclosed at the moment. Both detainees face penalties, up to life imprisonment.
