Billionaires became richer by 2 trillion dollars: their number increased by 204
In 2024, the number of billionaires in the world increased by 204 people, and their total wealth reached $15 trillion.
Such information was released in a report by the organization Oxfam, which is dedicated to fighting poverty and inequality.
It is particularly noted that the wealth of the richest people grew three times faster last year than in 2023.
Oxfam warns that if such a trend continues, in the next decade we could see the emergence of five of the first trillionaires, which will further exacerbate wealth inequality.
Against this backdrop, about 3.6 billion people, or 44% of the world’s population, are forced to survive below the poverty line—on less than $6.85 a day. The number of people suffering from hunger has reached 733 million, which is 152 million more than in 2019.
