Ukrainian sailors, who were released from captivity by the Houthis, have arrived in Odesa
Odesa welcomed sailors who were recently released from the captivity of Yemeni Houthis. Three Ukrainians were held captive for 14 months — since November 2023.
This was reported by the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine on Telegram.
According to the DIU, the meeting of the Galaxy Leader vessel sailors with their families took place in the building of the regional military-civil administration today, on January 25.
"I haven’t fully realized that I’m at home yet… I am very grateful to all those involved, especially the representatives of the DIU. They were the first to contact us. After this conversation, there were no more doubts or fears — they know about us, they will bring us back," said Vitaliy, who was released from captivity.
According to DIU representative Olha Mosyondz, the return of the sailors home is the result of the coordinated long-term work of many people.
"The special operation was carried out on the instructions of the President of Ukraine and thanks to the comprehensive support of the Sultanate of Oman’s Royal Office," she added.
