The authorities of occupied Mariupol have approved a new "flag" and "coat of arms"
New "flag" and "coat of arms" of the occupied Mariupol have been approved.
This is reported by local "media" referring to the "mayor" of the city, Oleh Morhun, on February 3.
"The new flag and coat of arms were developed by specialized experts based on previously existing coats of arms of the city of Mariupol," said Morhun.
The coat of arms is designed in white and blue colors, which are meant to denote Mariupol’s location on the shore of the Azov Sea. Additionally, the white color is supposed to "symbolize metallurgy — one of Mariupol’s economic foundations."
On the left and right of the shield are red and blue ribbons. The occupiers use these to symbolize the awards received by Mariupol during Soviet times: the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and the Order of the October Revolution.
The shield depicts a crown, similar to crown systems for various settlements in Russia.
