Medical workers will be "unreserved" for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Ministry of Health, together with the Ministry of Defence and the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is coordinating the mechanism for un-reserving medical personnel for the needs of the army. This process will ensure a balance between the needs of the front and civilian medicine.

This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The Minister of Health of Ukraine, Viktor Lyashko, together with Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Serhiy Melnyk and Commander of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces Anatoliy Kazmirchuk, discussed the mechanism for un-reserving medical personnel for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Recently, the government has allowed 100% reservation of medical workers in healthcare facilities of state and municipal forms of ownership, public health institutions, forensic medical and psychiatric examination institutions, and blood centers, where work in these facilities is their primary place of employment.

At the same time, the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the defence sector for medical personnel, who may be mobilized from civilian medical institutions, will be met through the mechanism of un-reserving specific medical workers who are currently needed.

"Currently, over 75% of wounded military personnel are being treated in civilian medical institutions. It is important for us to ensure uninterrupted medical care in full. Therefore, the government decided on 100% reservation of medical workers," emphasized Viktor Lyashko, Minister of Health of Ukraine.

He also noted that there are needs at the front. To meet them, the Ministry of Health is coordinating with the Ministry of Defence and the Command of the Medical Forces.

"Decisions on un-reserving medical personnel should be made considering the real needs for specialists of a particular profile. It is important to maintain a balance so that the medical system functions effectively for both the front and the rear," said Lyashko.

The ministry explained that "un-reserving" of medical personnel will occur based on requests from the Ministry of Defence and the Command of the Medical Forces regarding the need for certain medical specialists.

Subsequently, the Ministry of Health, in coordination with health departments, will conduct consultations and form lists of necessary medical workers. The process will be organized to ensure the proper functioning of civilian medical institutions.

The application for un-reserving will be submitted by the heads of medical institutions using the "Diya Portal," in accordance with the procedure for reserving conscripts during mobilization and wartime.

After un-reserving, specialists will be mobilized to the Armed Forces or other military formations, according to their needs, and appointed to medical positions in the military service.

"When mobilized, contracts will be concluded for a period of 1 year," noted the head of the Ministry of Health.
