The Council plans to adopt laws for European integration in an accelerated mode
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine plans to adopt laws concerning European integration in an accelerated mode. The corresponding draft law is already under consideration.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, during the conference "Ukraine’s Accession to the EU: Forming a Transformational Agenda".
He noted that the process of European integration is enormous in scope and will require the utmost clarity and concentration of all democratic institutions. In particular, it will require reforming many processes of the Verkhovna Rada.
"Therefore, the first thing we proposed along with colleagues is draft law 8242, authored by myself, Oleksandr Kornyenko, Olena Kondratyuk, and many others, the so-called fast-track for European integration legislation," stated the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.
According to Stefanchuk, this draft law is currently under consideration. In his opinion, it has the potential to be adopted.
"That is, any draft law recognized as European integration, to which there are no objections from the government, as the one introducing this draft law, nor from the parliament, can be adopted in a single reading as a law. This will significantly simplify the passage of many draft laws," he explained.
