The capture of the settlement of Kotlyne by Ukrainian troops is an important step as it disrupts the enemy’s plans to seize Pokrovsk and allows for the destruction of an abnormally large number of occupiers.

This was stated in a television broadcast by the spokesperson of the operational-strategic group of troops "Khortytsia," Major Viktor Trehubov.

"This is extremely important because it is on the Pokrovsk direction, where the Russians are making the greatest efforts and where the largest number of their troops is concentrated and where the most clashes occur, which is their main intention, and I mean specifically the plan to capture the southern part of Donetsk region, which would involve encircling and capturing Pokrovsk, that they face the biggest setbacks. It is precisely in this direction that Ukrainian troops were able to transition to an effective form of active defence, in which we not only hold our positions but also destroy an abnormally large number of the enemy and conduct counterattacks that are sensitive to the enemy, disrupting their plans," the spokesperson said.

He clarified that the distance from the line of contact to Pokrovsk is a few kilometers in some places.

In response to the question of whether the Pokrovsk–Dnipro route can be attacked by enemy artillery, Trehubov noted that this plan is currently failing for the Russians.

"The Russians’ plan was as follows: to reach the route, establish first fire control, and then physical control. But after the counterattack on Kotlyne, we can say that this plan is not working for them now. There are several factors that even the Russians themselves complain about. I can name three: the dominance of Ukrainian drones, secondly - the shortage of personnel, which is amusing to hear from the Russian war correspondents, and thirdly - GABs have become less effective as it has become harder for them to be guided due to Ukrainian electronic warfare," the spokesperson said.

He added that it is precisely on the Pokrovsk direction that Ukrainian defenders have effectively organized the interaction of UAVs with motorized infantry and assault units.
