Near Kyiv, a scandal involving volunteers broke out: humanitarian aid is rotting, vehicles meant for the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being sold

A woman suspected of mass embezzlement and calling herself a "volunteer" was transporting vehicles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the initial phase of the Russian Armed Forces invasion and then reselling them. Accomplices accumulated tons of humanitarian aid, while the military received expired medicines and food.

In the Kyiv region, a scandal is unfolding involving a woman claiming to be a volunteer for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Near a recreation base in the Boryspil district, discarded humanitarian aid collected for the Armed Forces was found scattered in a field, reports "TSN".

Activists claim that the aid did not reach the front line, just as the vehicles purchased by the charity fund with donations did not. The accused resold the cars.

During a court session, the wife of one of the soldiers, who regularly sent money to support the army, asked the volunteer to look her in the eye. However, the woman turned away, to which the other exclaimed that she cursed her.

The National Police of Ukraine informed TSN that in the Boryspil district, the head of one of the charity organizations, together with a volunteer, organized a scheme for the illegal sale of vehicles imported as humanitarian aid. The suspects were detained while receiving over $19,000, and they face up to seven years in prison.

Law enforcement officials note that the "volunteers" operated on a large scale: from 2022 to 2024, they imported over 680 vehicles into Ukraine. The cars were registered under a preferential procedure and registered to a charity as humanitarian aid. Afterward, some of the vehicles were sold in the Boryspil district.

The woman involved in the case is Iryna V. Her activities are also known to the former commander of the territorial defense battalion, Yaroslav Hodunok. During the Russian Armed Forces’ advance on the Kyiv region, he was responsible for the area around the Boryspil bypass, where the territorial defense base was located.

"When the war retreated from Kyiv, we started creating a drone school there. Then this woman, who called herself a volunteer, arrived. She said she wanted to establish a rehabilitation center there. At first, she really helped," explained the military officer.

Within a year, the suspect in embezzlement began distributing expired products and medicines. The woman was accumulating humanitarian aid.

"Different goods were stored in tons: medicines, stoves, and more. Many questions arose, scandals began… We received information that she was involved in selling humanitarian aid at the market," he continued.

The history of the humanitarian aid scandal near Boryspil

The TSN report does not specify when the scandal occurred. It apparently refers to the events of September 2024, when a huge "graveyard" of humanitarian aid was found on the outskirts of Boryspil.

The footage shows discarded products, medicines, and other necessary items simply rotting in the open air. The territory was rented by the charity fund "Mavka," and its representative Iryna Voytenko assured that volunteers and military personnel left their cargo for storage and for unknown reasons did not collect them.

"Sometimes vehicles break down, someone cannot collect the cargo. They can leave it with me and then come back to pick it up," she explained.
