Norway will increase financial support for Ukraine: the Prime Minister will address the parliament with a proposal

The Norwegian government will soon ask the parliament to increase financial assistance to Ukraine.

This was stated by the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, on Saturday in an interview with the public broadcaster NRK.

At the end of last year, the Norwegian parliament agreed to spend a total of 35 billion Norwegian kroner ($3.12 billion) on military and civil assistance to Ukraine in 2025.

"Today I can say that we will soon return to parliament with a proposal to increase support," Støre said in the interview.

Tomorrow, the Norwegian Prime Minister is heading to London to meet, among others, with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. There, he will also meet with other European leaders attending the summit convened by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Støre noted that the meetings in London will discuss, among other things, relations with the new administration of the United States.

Discuss how to approach the new administration in the United States.

"Yesterday, I heard that he (Volodymyr Zelenskyy. – Ed.) still emphasizes the importance of relations with the United States and wishes to find ways for further development," the Norwegian Prime Minister said.

He called it "absolutely necessary" for the United States, along with Europe, to contribute to achieving lasting peace in Ukraine.

In response to the question of how one can trust the US after the scandal in the White House on Friday, Støre said that no immediate conclusions should be drawn from it.

"We have had five or six weeks with Trump as president. I think we still need to work on understanding the consequences of the style, gameplay, and words they use," shared the Norwegian Prime Minister.
