A Lviv resident was sentenced to 9 years for illegal transportation of draft dodgers across the border
The court announced the verdict for a Lviv resident who was involved in the illegal transportation of evaders across the border. Previously convicted for similar crimes, the man received 9 years of imprisonment – the maximum penalty for this crime as stipulated by current legislation.
This was reported by the Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine on Saturday, March 22, via their Facebook page.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the convicted individual had organized a network for the illegal transportation of people to the European Union in the Lviv region. Specifically, he transported men to border areas, ensured their accommodation in villages near the border, and then assisted them in crossing the national border.
The border guards of the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment detained the trafficker of evaders while attempting to illegally conduct four men across the border.
