SBGU: The occupiers are trying to expand the combat zone in the Sumy region

The majority of shelling by Russian occupiers of border areas occurs in the Sumy region.

This was stated by the representative of the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, on the air of the "United News" telethon.

He also added that the Russians are shelling the Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions as well.

«The Russians continue shelling the Sumy region but also target the territories of Chernihiv and Kharkiv. However, the majority of shelling at this moment is recorded specifically in the direction of Sumy, and the enemy is not decreasing the activity of its actions here. Speaking of the Sumy region, it involves the use of a significant amount of aviation to carry out strikes», — said Demchenko.

According to him, in many cases, for attacks on border territories in these three regions, the enemy uses drones that drop explosives.

«These include fiber-optic drones, FPV drones, with which the enemy strikes the Ukrainian border, also targeting settlements and terrorizing the civilian population», — added Demchenko.

He reported that in certain sections of the border, attempts by small enemy assault groups to penetrate into the territory of Ukraine are still being recorded.

«This is mainly in the direction of the settlement of Novenke, in the direction of Zhuravka. In other sections, attempts by such small assault groups to penetrate are also occasionally revealed, but all of this is largely in one operational zone where the enemy is trying, using such tactics, to establish a foothold on our territory in order to expand the zone of active hostilities already on the territory of Ukraine», — he noted.
