SSU and SBI detained the head of the Sumy region tax service for bribery

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) have uncovered the head of the excise goods control department of the Main Directorate of the State Tax Service in the Sumy region demanding a bribe.

This was reported by the SSU.

According to case materials, the official demanded an illegal benefit from an entrepreneur engaged in the wholesale sale of fuel. In exchange for money, the official promised to provide licenses for fuel sales.

To organize the bribe transfer, the official involved an intermediary. During the money transfer, the SSU detained the official along with the intermediary "in the act."

Both offenders have been charged under Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving an unlawful benefit by an official). They face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
