More than 95% of the drones that Ukraine employs on the front are the result of domestic production. This is important as the ability to quickly, extensively, and consistently increase the production of modern military equipment will largely determine the outcome of the combat actions on our territory.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Valeriy Churkin, as reported by "Interfax-Ukraine". Churkin noted that Ukraine has chosen the path of developing military technologies as an asymmetric response to the significant advantage of the adversary in resources.

"Considering the unequal conditions of the parties in the number of soldiers, barrels, and equipment, Ukraine has focused on the development of military technologies as an asymmetric response to the significant advantage of the enemy. In the drone systems sector, we have achieved a significant breakthrough. Over 95% of the UAVs currently used on the front are manufactured in Ukraine," Churkin explained.

He noted that unmanned systems play a key role in the weapon structures of the world’s leading armies. The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has approved the use of over 330 new models of domestically produced unmanned systems during 2024, whereas in 2023, this figure was only 75.

The Russian side is also investing in the development of its military-industrial complex. Despite sanctions, Russia’s military industry still produces almost all types of weapons—from firearms to aircraft and precision-guided missiles. Russia pays special attention to the production of various types of drones.

"It is critically important for Ukraine to win this technological sprint. It is necessary to prioritize the production of relatively cheap and effective means of destruction to inflict significant losses on the enemy with less resource expenditure," the deputy minister noted.
