Szijjártó stated that Hungary is expelling two Ukrainian diplomats for "undercover espionage"
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced that Budapest is expelling two Ukrainian diplomats allegedly for "undercover espionage".
His statement is quoted by hu24.
He accused Ukraine of spreading "slanderous actions and anti-Hungarian propaganda".
"We, Hungarians, strive for peace, we say ’no’ to war, we have never supplied weapons to Ukraine and will not allow ourselves to be dragged into this war or Hungary to be dragged into it. These are the reasons for the slanderous actions initiated against Hungary. Therefore, today we expelled two spies from Hungary, who were working under diplomatic cover at the Ukrainian embassy in Budapest," he stated.
The Hungarian minister also hinted that Hungary would block Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
"The Hungarian people are now preparing to make a decision on whether Ukraine can become an EU member. We will not tolerate such slanderous actions against the Hungarian people!" added Szijjártó.
