Lubinets: In Ukraine, 2243 children are considered missing

On the International Day of Missing Children, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, stated that according to the National Police, 2,243 children are considered missing in Ukraine. He emphasized that "behind each number are lives that need saving."

According to Lubinets, the International Day of Missing Children is intended to remind us of the tragedies that families go through due to the disappearance of a child. He stressed that in Ukraine, this issue has taken on a new dimension during the war. This concerns both occupied and controlled territories, as well as the situation abroad.

"This day is also about the responsibility of adults. We must be attentive to every child around us, creating a safe environment where a child is not afraid to ask for help," Lubinets emphasized.

The Ombudsman added that in case of a child’s disappearance, it is necessary to report it to the police. If the child’s rights are violated, he urged to contact the Ombudsman’s office: Kyiv, 21/8 Instytutska Street, 01008. Email address: [email protected]. Hotline phone number: 0 800 501 720.

Last year, on the International Day of Missing Children, Lubinets reported about 2,021 missing children in Ukraine.
