The Chesno movement will not remove Andriy Portnov’s profile from the Register of Traitors
The movement "Chesno" will not remove the profile of former deputy head of Viktor Yanukovych’s administration, Andriy Portnov, from the Register of Traitors.
This was announced by the movement on its website.
The movement reminded that in court, Portnov demanded not only the removal of his profile from the Register of Traitors but also the recognition of the information as false and defamatory to his honor, dignity, and business reputation, including:
- committing state treason;
- "Traitor of the country";
- "An associate of Russian authorities who started an aggressive war against Ukraine and changed its borders."
In addition, the plaintiff requested the collection of a quarter of a million hryvnias.
As the movement noted, after Portnov’s death, courts continue to consider cases he initiated against activists and journalists. The team filed a cassation appeal, while the enforcement service closed the proceedings regarding the implementation of the appeal decision.
"We partially fulfilled the appeal decision — paid the property claims from Portnov, which is about one hundred thousand hryvnias, but did not remove his profile or refute the information. The enforcement service closed the proceedings regarding these claims," noted the leader of the movement, Vita Dumanska.
According to her, the team believes that information about Portnov’s activities, which he tried to remove through controlled courts, should be preserved and made accessible to Ukrainians.
"We uphold the right of citizens to know who and how harmed Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity," added Dumanska.
