The International Atomic Energy Agency recorded another series of explosions at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, which is under Russian occupation control. This is the fourth such incident since the beginning of the year.

This was reported with reference to a statement by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

According to him, the team of observers working directly at the station recorded a series of shots and explosions near the facility.

The incident occurred in the afternoon of June 5. Between 11:30 and 13:45 local time, at least five explosions were heard, each preceded by shots. Additional gunfire was also heard after 14:00. According to ZNPP, these were "drone neutralization" measures near the station’s training center.

"Drone flights near nuclear facilities pose a serious threat to their physical security. Such incidents are unacceptable and must be stopped immediately," stressed Grossi.

The source or ownership of the drones is currently unknown. No reports of damage to facilities or injuries have been received.

The IAEA emphasizes that this is the fourth incident since the beginning of 2025 when the ZNPP training center has become the target of attacks. In particular, in April, due to shelling near the main administrative building, the agency’s observers were forced to temporarily leave their workplaces.
