In Khmelnytskyi region, a 12-year-old boy died in a traffic accident at a railway crossing

In Khmelnytskyi region, a child on a moped collided with a railcar at an uncontrolled railway crossing. The 12-year-old boy died.

The incident occurred around 14:00 on Monday, June 23, near the village of Shevchenkove (Yarmolyntsi OTG) on the Skibnevo – Yarmolyntsi railway section. The press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Khmelnytskyi region confirmed the tragedy.

Investigators discovered that at the intersection of the tracks and the road, there was a collision between a 12-year-old local resident on a Suzuki moped and a 39-year-old man from Khmelnytskyi who was operating the railcar.

A railcar is a light railway vehicle used for inspection trips, transportation of service personnel, materials, machinery, tools, etc.

The child died at the scene of the accident from the injuries sustained.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 3 Article 276 (violation of safety rules for the movement or operation of railway, water, or air transport) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
